Last weekend was the start of the 2017 six nations which presented a few surprises. Things kicked of with up north with Scotland v Ireland; Scotland put forward a very strong side and secured their first opening win for many years.
The England side gave an underwhelming performance against what was expected to be a weak French side. England were under pressure as a win would be the 15th successive win; an all time record! they nearly didn’t make it. Eddie Jones did not look a happy man as they went in for half time; thankfully the managed to muster enough to scrape to a win. Unusually MOTM did not go to the winning side with Louis Piccamoles claiming the honour (which as a Northampton Saints supporter was not to much of a disappointment).
Sunday presented more surprises with Wales initially struggling in Rome. Highlight of the match had to be a super 60m dash for the try line by another Saint – George North, who in typical North style (and despite a thigh injury) made the long run for the try line as the opposition fell away.
